Biography

The owner and Director of Pacesetter Sports is Jeff McCarron, who began working in camps in 1976 and created Pacesetter in 1980. He has been a basketball camp clinician and the director of all Pacesetter activities for the past 36 years. Since starting Pacesetter in 1980, McCarron has helped provide over 3,500 programs for over 250,000 young athletes. He has also been the publisher of Minnesota Basketball News since 1994.

McCarron was a member of Minnesota’s last single-class state high school basketball championship team with Sherburn in 1970 and was a member of the Minnesota Gophers’ Big Ten basketball championship team in 1972. McCarron transferred to Augustana College in 1972 and played basketball and football in the North Central Conference, which included the following teams from the area that Pacesetter serves: University of North Dakota, North Dakota State University, University of South Dakota, South Dakota State University, Morningside College, University of Northern Iowa, and Mankato State University. McCarron was also a charter owner in 1995 of the International Basketball Association that merged with other leagues to become the current NBA Developmental League.
